The capital of culture 2010 was opened at the 9th of january 2010 in the city of Essen with an impressed ceremony. At the first official weekend about 200.000 visitors already visited the several events in the Region Ruhr. Distributed over the whole year, there will be held different culture based exhibitions and events from starting in the west with Duisburg to Dortmund in the east. From Haltern in the North to Hattingen in the south of the Region Ruhr.
